Election officials say former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has been elected as mayor in his home city by a landslide, despite his detention by the International Criminal Court.

Former Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte has secured a landslide victory in the Davao City mayoral race, even as he remains in detention at the International Criminal Court (ICC) in The Hague on charges related to his controversial anti-drug campaign.

It is up to the Department of the Interior and Local Government to say who will exercise the functions of mayor of Davao City while former President Rodrigo Duterte is detained in The Hague, the Commission on Elections said on Tuesday.
