Many in the region are preparing for a possible military confrontation between India and Pakistan because of a terrorist attack two weeks ago.

India has advanced the start date of four under-construction hydropower projects in the Kashmir region by months after suspending a water-sharing treaty with Pakistan that had slowed progress, according to an industry source and a government document.

The already-frosty ties between neighbouring India and Pakistan have nosedived to a new low after the religiously-targeted terror attack in Jammu and Kashmir's Pahalgam, in which 26 tourists, including one foreign national were shot dead last month.
